Birding Tours

We currently offer the following tours. All tours have a maximum of six guests and extended tours are fully accommodated. Larger groups and bird clubs can be catered for. All prices are in Australian Dollars. Click on the tour title for a detailed itinerary:

Atherton Tablelands

Full day tour that includes lunch and morning tea. Visit a variety of habitats including old growth rainforest and search for local endemic species.

Cairns, Wet Tropics and Outback

This 8-day tour starts in Cairns, tours through the Atherton Tablelands, Georgetown, the Daintree, and then a full day trip to Michaelmas Cay and the Great Barrier Reef. The Wet Tropics is the richest avifaunal region in Australia and you can expect to see 250+ species, including many local endemics. Accommodation is in birding or wildlife lodges where possible, or in hotels, on a twin-share basis. All meals, accommodation and boat trips are included.

Cape York/Iron Range

Iron Range is one of the most famous birding sites in Australia. During this 7-day birding tour, we should see all the New Guinea/Cape York specials including the Golden-shouldered Parrot and the stately Palm Cockatoo. From Cairns, we travel to Mt Carbine, Laura, a full day of birding in Lakefield National Park, then north to Archer River and Iron Range. All meals and flights are included on this birding tour.

The Kalkadoon Grasswren Tour

This tour visits some of the most spectacular parts of North West Queensland. From Cairns we travel to Winton and the fantastic Bladensburg National Park. Then west to the ancient spinifex clad ranges of Mt Isa where we search for the Kalkadoon Grasswren. We continue to the spectacular sandstone gorges of Lawn Hill, and then north to Karumba where we take a boat tour on the Norman River. Expect to see many rare and interesting inland and mangrove species.

Darwin, Kakadu, and the Top End Tour

The Top End is one of Australia’s most exciting birding regions. This seven day tour starts and finishes in Darwin and visits a wide range of habitats, including mangroves, monsoon forest, tropical woodland, sandstone escarpment, and the famous Kakadu wetlands. All meals, accommodation and boat trips are included.


The East Coast of Australia - A Birding Adventure

If you want to see many of Australia's unique and colourful birds on one comfortable yet comprehensive trip, then this is the Cassowary Tour for you. Six major regions willl be visited on this 22-day birding tour. Starting in Melbourne, this tour travels through inland Victoria, Tasmania, Sydney area, Lamington near Brisbane, on to Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands. With only a small group and 3 to 4 days in each region, including pelagic tours, you are sure to discover the great diversity of habitats and birdlife.
